It seems a little backwards that they would restore a guild but not players accounts. Sometimes I wonder what A-Net is thinking.

Simple hacking method:

As they have a forum with all sorts of stored details and many people will likely use the same e-mail address/password combination for many different things, it's possible that this was targeted from there. I'd guess it's much easier to find someone's IP from a forum than inside GW, and that can lead to some real hacking.

Actualy, she did, and said that she couldn't discuss the exploit beyond mentioning that it was fixed, and she didn't sound to happy about it.

PvE player accounts are 0.0001 dime a dozen, but there is only one guild that has dominated the GvG landscape for all of recent memory.

Posting in epic thread, anyways it's such a shame to hear, did they even get to enjoy the platinum cape? And for the people say omg they're so good they'll be up there again really fast, you know nothing of how they play. Their "fortressway" build draws the game into VoD, do the math of the amount of games and time. GG.

People who dont understand that dont know what rawr and other top rated guilds do for the game itself. I suggest you take more of a look and see what rawr does for Anet.

What's trimmed with gold now is the hacker's e-p33n.

If this doesn't make Anet at least try and fix these hackings then I've seriously lost all faith in Anet. Sucks for rawr and I do hope they get their gold trim back.

Abusing VoD mechanics and relying on E7 to win.

Seriously no matter how much it sucks, that doesn't make them any better than the average player and should not get special Treatment like it has happened in the past

Ya, but I do understand what they do for the game. But how will all the players that got their accounts hacked feel about the this? They may take it as A-net sending the message that they only care about high rated accounts and guilds. If they are being selective about who they care about, it will drive even more players away. Yes, I do know what [rawr] has done, so don't flame. This is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Man the hacking grows in this game. GW has the worst security of any MMO/MMORPG I've ever played.

Player accounts cost real, big-person money. GvG guilds don't cost any money to make, aside from small amounts of imaginary gold.

I disagree....we see it everyday in the real world. This is fantasy world, so of course it will happen here.

BBesides, rawr has put in THOUSANDS of hours into this game, they deserve to have special treatment. They are good at the game, they help support the game, and they help bring money to the game, of course they deserve special treatment. Do I agree with it? not entirely, do I accept it? yeah.

But what about all the "normal" people that put thousands of hours into the game, and give their money to A-net for the game, and get hacked, why don't they get "special treatment"?

I wouldn't be surprised if they get "special treatment" from Anet, as they have Andrew Patrick in that guild.

Ahahaha, that's so true. I wish he just had some hubris and went around spamming forums about how he hacked the leader of [rawr], then it'd be so easy to catch him.

Andrew leads ZoS, not rawr. Unless you mean his GM account is in rawr, then...

I strongly believe that the deletion of [rawr] was a premeditated and malicious invasion of awowa's account. As a recent victim of an account breach myself, where someone stole 300k worth of ectos and shards, I hope Anet seriously investigates the increasingly noticeable rash of security breaches. While I don't expect anyone to care about what I lost, the deletion of a guild that has won 5 gold capes and organized two independent tournaments for the community just absolutely enrages me. I'm sure people that lack empathy find this hilarious, but I am getting increasingly paranoid about the state of security in Guild Wars or the GW fansites. While I haven't won a gold cape, I've poured thousands of hours into my character, and I really wish Anet would institute a method to prevent deletion of certain characters, guilds, or items.

Awowa or any of the other people hacked in the past couple months don't deserve this. People are quick to blame the victims, but recent threads indicate that people are losing items or accounts despite avoiding goldsellers or 3rd party programs. It's absolutely unacceptable that unscrupulous people can hide behind their computer screens taking advantage of people's work for personal gain or amusement. It's outrageous and something desperately needs to be done to correct the situation.
